Provisional ballots counted as election results sought by week's end

It's been over a week since Maryland's primaries, and some of the races still haven't been called, including the Democratic nominee for Baltimore County Executive. On Thursday, officials will start reviewing and counting provisional ballots, starting with the Republican races, and then the Democratic races. Election officials have already counted ballots from early voting, election day, and some absentee ballots. All that is left at this point are some of the remaining absentee ballots and all of the provisional ballots. Representatives from the campaigns will be there to review the information on Thursday as election law allows candidates to challenge a decision to count or reject a provisional ballot. Officials won't tally the votes until all of them are reviewed, but these results are expected to influence the Democratic race for Baltimore County Executive. Right now, it's a tight race where John Olszewski and Jim Brochin are separated by fewer than 100 votes, with Vicki Almond not far behind.  The winner of the democratic primary will race Al Redmer Jr. in November's General Election. Counting the votes could take a few days so we might not know the results until Friday, possibly even next week.
