Man critically hurt after exchanging gunfire with Overland Park police

A man is critically hurt after exchanging gunfire with Overland Park police officers Friday morning. Police had responded to a report of shots fired near 79th and Grant around 1 a.m. They said the man pointed a gun at police, and then both he and officers opened fire. The man was hit, critically hurt, and taken to the hospital.
