(Matthew 1:1–25 DKJV)
(1) The record of the origin of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. (2) Abraham was the father of Isaac; and Isaac was the father of Jacob; Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers ... (18) But the origin (birth) of Jesus Christ took place like this: after his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together (in intimate relations), she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. (19) And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to expose her publicly, decided to separate from her privately. (20) But after he had thought on these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (21) {And} she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name JESUS, for he will save his people from their sins.” (22) All of this happened, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet (in Isaiah 7:14) might be fulfilled. He says, (23) “Behold, a virgin will be with child, and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel”, which being translated is, God is with us.” (24) Then Joseph, having risen from sleep, did immediately what the angel of the Lord had directed him, and took his wife to himself; (25) But he had no sexual intimacy with her until she had given birth to her firstborn son; and he called his name JESUS.
