Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot on Wednesday in what is believed to be a targeted attack outside a Manhattan hotel where the health insurer was hosting an investor conference. Thompson, 50, was scheduled to speak at the event when he was shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown by an assailant who fled on a bicycle, according to the New York Police Department. The father of two, who also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. Authorities are currently reviewing evidence, including video footage from the scene. Investigators said they did not know the motive of the assailant, who fled the scene without taking any of the victim's belongings. Police have also put a bounty of $10,000 on the assailant.
