Texas-Based Army Soldiers Charged in Human Smuggling Operation

Three U.S. Army soldiers stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas, have been charged with human smuggling. The soldiers, Emilio Mendoza Lopez, Angel Palma, and Enrique Jauregui, allegedly transported undocumented individuals from Mexico and Guatemala. During a chase, one soldier struck a Border Patrol vehicle, injuring an agent. The soldiers face charges of bringing in and harboring aliens, with Palma and Jauregui also charged with assaulting a federal agent.
