“President Biden is letting his son off the hook,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) of the president’s recent pardon of his son Hunter at a press conference with House Republican leadership. He went on to say it was a “perversion of justice … an utter disregard for the rule of law.” When asked about President Biden’s request to include Ukraine aid in the next round of government funding, he said, “it is not the place of Joe Biden to make that decision now. We have a newly elected president, and we’re going to wait and take the new commander-and-chief’s direction on all of that.” Other topics addressed included the agenda for the upcoming Congress, the balance of power in the house, and the recent bomb threats against members of Congress.
