Lumumba's Africa. Poaching and the Ivory Trade. Ep 6 | RT Documentary
6 months ago
1K
Africa’s wildlife is one of its greatest treasures, but how can endangered animal species be saved? Today, only an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 elephants remain across the continent. While some countries work to manage elephant populations, others, like Kenya and Tanzania, are seeing rapid declines. Elephants, leopards, and rhinos are still hunted for their ivory, horns, and hides.
Poaching also impacts the economy. Tourism is a vital source of income for many African nations, but how can the industry thrive when the animals tourists come to see are being driven to extinction?
Can hunting practices be regulated? And could educating local communities help protect Africa’s extraordinary wildlife for future generations?
