Pakistan: Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Imran Khan, Wife Bushra Bibi Over Islamabad Protests

A Pakistani court has issued arrest warrants for former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and several officials from the PTI party in connection with deadly protests in Islamabad in November. The protests were sparked by Khan's call for nationwide protests from jail. Hundreds of Khan's supporters gathered in Islamabad on November 24, even without permission. A few days later, a police crackdown led to at least 12 deaths and hundreds of arrests. Police have since registered a case in an anti-terrorism court, accusing Khan and others of conspiring to attack officers. Khan has been in jail since 2023, facing multiple cases following the fall of his government in 2022.
