### Iniquity, Sin, and the New Covenant

In this Bible study, the speaker, Dr. Michael Davis, shares a personal and powerful testimony about struggling with intrusive thoughts and losing his ability to focus. This experience led him on a deep study of the word "iniquity" from scripture. The message clarifies the crucial difference between sin, iniquity, and transgression, arguing that the modern church often fails to address the full scope of God's New Covenant. The discussion highlights how understanding iniquity and its distinction from sin can lead to profound freedom, and it uses a powerful testimony of a ministry to men addicted to pornography to illustrate how this teaching helps set people free.

- The speaker shares a personal testimony of experiencing intrusive thoughts and losing his ability to focus, which he believes was an attack from the enemy.
- The term "losing your mind" is defined as losing the ability to focus and control one's thoughts.
- The speaker was led to a specific prayer in Psalm 25, where he asked God to pardon his iniquity.
- The parable of the sower is used to explain how a "hardened heart" can prevent a person from receiving God's word.
- The terms "sin," "iniquity," and "transgression" are distinct, and the Bible uses them differently.
- Iniquity is defined as a deep-seated spiritual issue, a "jurisdiction held and protected" by the enemy in one's heart.
- The church has failed to teach on the full scope of the New Covenant, focusing only on the forgiveness of sin while neglecting iniquity and transgression.
- The speaker shares a testimony of a ministry where men addicted to pornography were set free by understanding and praying about their iniquities.

The video concludes by asserting that the New Covenant is much more than just the forgiveness of sin. The ultimate takeaway is that the church's focus on only one-eighth of the New Covenant—the forgiveness of sin—has left believers vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy in the areas of iniquity and transgression. The speaker challenges listeners to understand that Christ's desire is for us to have power over all three of these areas and to receive the complete freedom that the New Covenant offers.

Our belief is that God desires relationship with man, the species. Whether Bible teaching, prayer, our redemption, making disciples—whatever the spiritual activity, relationship with man is and has been Father’s goal. He, as Creator, has the right to tell the created creature, man, how life is to work. His Word is often focused on how to have a relationship with Him, why we lack that relationship, and the reasons for the lack. The most commonly taught reason for loss of relationship with God is sin; but there are two other reasons given for relationship loss—iniquity and transgression. These teachings have been found by many to be vital in their understanding and the seeking of deeper relationship with God.
