Mermaids beautiful mystical water creatures

Mermaids are mythical female creatures, hybrids of women and fish. They are usually described as beautiful women with scales that hang down from their waists like a tail fin. Legends say that they live in the sea and other bodies of water. The male counterpart of the mermaid is the Aquarius. There are countless stories about these mystical water creatures. Most mermaids are soulless, cursed beings who can only be freed from their curse through the love of a human companion. Mermaids are to be distinguished from water women and water nymph . There are mermaids in many mythologies. In the past, sailors often saw mermaids sunbathing on cliffs in the sea when the weather was fine, and many of these sightings were mistaken for manatees, seals and other sea creatures. There are many films, series and fairy tales about mermaids, and many ships used to have mermaids as figureheads on the bow. Do you think there are mermaids or are they just fish or manatees?
