Moana 2 Has Record-Breaking Opening Weekend Despite Weak Critic Response

Disney’s latest animated sequel, Moana 2, saw a huge opening weekend during the 5-day Thanksgiving holiday.

The follow-up to 2016’s Moana grossed over $386 million globally and broke many box office records for the Thanksgiving weekend. All of this despite the fact many critics were at best lukewarm on the sequel, but Disney has seemed to learn they don’t need critics on their side to make money. Audiences liked the movie and it will likely hit that billion dollar mark for them at the box office.
