Matt Hansen, the Art Director behind Avowed, has stirred up controversy with his outspoken political opinions, targeting both Donald Trump supporters and tech mogul Elon Musk. In a post ahead of the 2024 U.S. elections, Hansen called for Trump supporters to "feel the sting of shame" for the rest of their "putrid lives." His comments came after a provocative statement from Faine Greenwood about suppressing the spirits of Trump backers.

Hansen's criticism didn’t stop there—he admitted to deliberately designing Avowed to provoke Musk. After Musk condemned the use of pronouns in the game, Hansen proudly acknowledged that his intention was to anger the billionaire, calling it a success.

Beyond his inflammatory remarks about politics, Hansen has previously faced backlash for advocating for preferential treatment of Black artists in gaming, even claiming a desire to "replace" himself in the industry. His bold stance against “white dudes” has led to heated debates about race and inclusion in game development.
