When I go to bed I put a little bit of dry food into his bowl, and then give him a big dose right before I turn the lights out. Between the two feedings, he usually stays pretty close by. That is, unless it's more than 45 minutes, then he may actually wander off.

I keep the food and bowl right next to me in bed, and every two hours or so, he wakes me up to give him more. One would hope that if I just gave him more food at one time that I'd get a longer break between feedings, but no... he wants to get fed just as frequently, so then I run out of food by about 5am. So, for at least the time being, he gets only a little food, but somewhat often, and I never get any deep sleep.
