GOD HEARS EVERYONE WHO SINGS THE BLUES
(Written by Ben Antoniadis)

Sad-eyed woman at my window, weeping like a wounded dove
I know worry and woe is all you’ve ever known, since you were young
A chorus of stars won’t heed your mourning, silently above
But God hears you, everyone who sings the blues

This city draws the hapless scores like moths to a light
Her dreaming sons on the run now, fixin’ to burn out bright
Her fallen daughters like lonely ghost ships, stranded in the night
Still God hears them, though his angels ain’t always sent

C’mon, climb that ladder to the light
Even when you’re falling apart
But reason won’t get you there
You gotta find it in your heart

An old digger rolls in the alley, a drunken serenade for no one
The world’s one big pub at closing time and he’s told to move along
When one door slams, another don’t open, everything goes wrong
But God hears him, singing to his bottle of gin
Yeah, God hears you, everyone who sings the blues
