I have reviewed quite a few flashlights from VASFIRE and they have all had the same heavy duty build quality, and excellent performance but suffer somewhat in presentation. This new model VA-C10 torch is similar in many respects.
The flashlight arrived devoid of all exterior packing other than the plastic storage container. Inside was the flashlight itself, two 18650 batteries, an external dual mode pressure switch with sticky mount, an external battery, a plastic scope mount, and a metal Picatinny mount complete with Allen key. No user guide was included.
The build quality of the 158 x 40 mm 189g flashlight itself is excellent, with an IP68 water resistant aluminium alloy casing, a glass lens, and a single dual mode control button on the tailpiece. There is no charging port and the 18650 battery must be charged in the external charger provided. The charger is lightweight but works well enough and allows the torch to be used as the second of the two batteries provided is charged, a process which takes about two hours.
Rated at 1000 lumens, the torch comes with some useful accessories. These include a rather cheaply made but robust plastic scope mount and a metal Picatinny rail mount which must be fitted using the Allen key provided. Also in the box is a remote switch which replaces the standard torch tailpiece with a cable mounted dual mode pressure switch, handy for low impact, low noise operations.
The torch can be operated in two ways. The tailpiece houses a padded dual mode button - press gently and the light stays on whilst pressed, silently releasing for it to go off. Press firmly and the light clicks on and strays on until clicked again. The same method is used to operate the remote switch.
The torch has a powerful 38mm Convex lens with a green LED, not just a filter, and is rated at 1000 lumens with an effective range of around 230m. The beam has a pronounced central hotspot, useful when focusing on a remote object.
True green light flashlights are specialised pieces of kit, and if you need one you will know it and will want a good quality one. You will not be disappointed here and for the prices of around $35 I doubt you will find better.
