Bay Area Parents Discover Nanny Abused 2-Day-Old Baby in 'Horrifying' Video

"I’m writing this post as a deeply concerned mother who endured an unimaginable difficulty with a nanny we hired, Guitian Liu. a 1968-born Chinese national from Fushun, Liaoning. Her daughter Christina Liu (Chinese name: Sha Liu) also involved.

We first heard about Guitian through a person on the chinese social media who claimed to be a mother of two calling herself “Ethan’s mom”and praised Guitian as a trustworthy nanny. After speaking with the nanny and“Ethan‘s mom”on the phone then we agreed to hire the nanny for three months.

Guitian began working on September 24.
On the morning of October 2, we just happen to see on the live baby monitor that the nanny was being a little rough with our baby. We have asked the nanny to be more careful with the baby but she reacted dramatically and crying about this accusation and said she would never do such thing to a baby. Later that night, my husband reviewed more footage from the monitor the night before and confirmed more of such behaviors were intentional. We took the baby away from the nanny and fired her in the morning in case if she act aggressively to the termination.

Using the family address provided by the nanny, we discovered that ‘Ethan’s mom’ was actually her daughter, Christina Liu, an HR lead at TikTok. She orchestrated a false recommendation on social media, pretending to be a satisfied client and vouching for her mother’s experience and reliability, deliberately deceiving unsuspecting families like ours.

Without knowing how serve the situation was, we had to focused on taking care of our family first and make sure everything is settled at home taking care of our two children. Then we started to review and download all the baby monitor’s videos which discovered too late that the nanny shaking her, slapping her, hitting her with a bottle, throwing her across the bed, smothering her with the blanket, suffocating her from crying. I can’t convey in words how traumatized we are and can’t watched all the videos where she was aggressively abused or even really attempted to murder.

I was so shocked that started to consistently bleeding more and can not able to feed so my husband had to take of the family first as the priority. Then we immediately went to our pediatrician to do physical checks and arrange additional appts for brain MRI and x-ray. That afternoon we reported to the police. By the time we downloaded all the video evidence and handed over to the police, Guitian had already left the country and, with the help of her daughter, managed to flee back to China.

This experience has been a nightmare for us, our baby is still under additional tests with the worry of long term damage, which haunts us everyday and regret if anything that would happen to her."
