Las Vegas Police arrest Spring Mountain burglary suspect after lengthy investigation

After a three-month investigation targeting 34 businesses, Las Vegas Metro Police have arrested Cedric Hasan, a suspect in a series of burglaries along the Spring Mountain corridor.

Surveillance footage from November 19 captured the moment officers, alongside a SWAT unit, apprehended Hasan at his residence near Farm Road and Aviary Way.

"Leave the door open. Stay right there," officers commanded during the arrest.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's arrest report, Hasan had been previously taken into custody by the North Las Vegas Police Department just 10 days before his November 19 arrest for burglarizing a tire shop.

However, Metro Police were not informed of Hasan's prior arrest or his release from jail, despite having been searching for him since June.

Further investigation led Metro detectives to Hasan's residence and place of employment, where they discovered work gear and tools allegedly used in several burglaries across the valley.

Businesses affected by the crime spree were informed of the arrest, with many expressing confidence that Hasan would eventually make a mistake.

"It was just a matter of time, you know?" said Colin Fukunaga. "Especially with the amount of footage and the MO. I think you could really identify by the mannerisms more than just the clothing and the little tidbits. It's a lot easier to identify who can do this type of crime."

The investigation also uncovered Hasan's extensive criminal history, including his involvement in three separate burglary series across the valley and a 2016 arrest for burglarizing 20 businesses.

According to a witness statement in his arrest report, Hasan has a gambling addiction.

Hasan has been accused of stealing more than $213,000 in cash.
