Holy Name battles Strongsville at the 2024 Great Lakes Basketball Classic to begin play for the 2024/25 season. In February, the Mustangs took an overtime victory over the Green Wave 87-82 led by Josh Byers' 33 points. Drew Styers posted a career-high 35 points in the loss and is out for redemption and a third straight victory at the classic following big wins over Kenston in 2022 and Riverside in 2023. Plenty of new faces looking to make an impact tonight the Mustangs as Strongsville graduated many seniors including OWU's Cal Klinzing, Nick Quirino, Aiden Oderkirk, and Ryan Byers. Holy Name is in a similar boat with Adam Humenik, Andrew Cole, and Joe Lewis graduating while Max Bollin and Brody Boyert transferred to Akron Buchtel and Cuyahoga Heights respectively. It's Green and White Vs Green and White on Black Friday.
