How Important Is It? Christianity sprang from Judaism in the first century. Jesus was a Jew, the disciples were Jewish, the first century community of believers were primarily Jewish. The cornerstone of Israel's covenant with God is the terms of their relationship - the Torah or Law. So, does the Torah/Law still pertain to the outgrowth of Judaism now called Christianity? MANY Christians misunderstand what the "Law" is and have been taught that it no longer pertains to them, except that it shows them how terribly awful people are and their need for Jesus. Well...that is a part of it, and there is truth to that, but it isn't the primary part.
