On servers you can go though supply drops or the obelisk to visit other servers in a "cluster" (the group of servers the admin rented all connected together).

Advantage of server teleporting between maps is you do not have to take your inventory out and place it in the Data tab. You port with everything on you except your pets. Pets still follow single player teleport rules. So if you want your pet in your inventory to avoid finding a supply drop to download it from you after reaching destination map, must travel with your pet inside a cryopod. Cryopods can be a pain to craft as you must make then inside an obelisk and gather heavy mats. And they have a 30day timer.

This server I am on is running a program that is not exactly a mod but kinda acts like a mod. It allows a store shop. You gain points by simply playing the game. I can buy cryopods from the store shop. Early game this is priceless convenience. Now I can take my wyvern with me to any map. Total freedom of movement.

Note you have to be player character level 65 to be allowed to passive tame feed crystal wyverns on map Crystal Isles.

A soul shard from the mod DinoStorage2 is a better improved version of a cryopod. But that requires the mod and most stable long lasting servers do not run any mods to avoid glitching.
