UK Frankenfood PSA: Arla Foods is the UK’s largest supplier of dairy products. Today they proudly announced their trial of a feed additive (Bovaer) on cattle herds across 30 farms, partnering with a number of large UK supermarkets. Bovaer is an Environmental Inhibitor - deployed to help fight the war against cow farts 🤡 Bovaer 10 feed additive contains 3-NOP (3-nitrooxypropanol). There’s plenty of chatter regarding health risks to humans, including infertility (which I’m not seeing reliable sauces for yet), but beef and dairy containing Bovaer, will not be labelled, so consumers will not be provided with transparency. Their announcement was severely ratioed, and they’ve now filed an injunction against “unlawful protests” across multiple sites. In what world is it acceptable to trail this type of additive in a major dairy supply chain with 26% of the GB milk pool share?
