This Land Is Mine (1943)

Directed by Jean Renoir. Set in a Nazi-occupied town, the film stars Charles Laughton as Albert Lory, a timid schoolteacher who gradually finds the courage to resist oppression. Maureen O’Hara plays Louise Martin, a fellow teacher and Albert’s unrequited love, whose family complicates the town’s dynamics under occupation.
