Screw Master - Review and Walk-through - Levels 31 - 35 - November 2024

What is Screw Master?
Screw Master is a game where one needs to remove the screws or pull the pins.

Is there any objectionable material?
We have not found any seriously objectionable material in the game. There are some Christmas-themed puzzles which could offend some people. Considering some of the games out there, if that is the worst thing about a game, we can deal with it.

What are the pros and cons of this game?

Pros:
A fairly simple game to pick up.
The game makes good use of the color wheel - full of bright colors.
Safe for children.
The physics makes you want to try to experiment with it.

Cons:
No background music.
Some of the color hues are pretty close to others. People with color deficiency may have problems with some levels because of this.
Could use a mini-tutorial on how to use the bonus items.
We do not mind challenging games. We do not like frustrating games. Some of the puzzles; especially early on; are way too difficult for early levels.
We also do not like levels with "no solutions". We have encountered puzzles which can not be done with the given assets. The only way to solve these levels is to use premium assets. These can be obtained by watching yet another ad or spending money. This makes the game feel like a money grab instead of a game or relaxing activity.
Doing this forces the player to be online to play the game. As such, being subjected to so many ads reinforces the notion that humans are nothing more than commodities to be exploited.

What's the bottom line?
Bottom line -
This is a decent game. We just do not know who should be playing the game. The designs and colors and themes indicate that children should be playing this game. However, the difficulty of the puzzles indicate that adults should be playing the game. All of this with the caveat that you will be subjected to advertising - a lot of it.

(Nov 2024)
Having played this game further, we've come to the conclusion that this game is designed to just show advertisements. While technically one can play this game offline, once you get past a certain level, one can not clear the puzzle using just the given assets. We've even failed with four (4) color slots instead of two (2). If one is forced to view ads in order to collect enough assets to complete the level, we feel that is simply unfair to players.

It's really a shame. It's a good game. But the implementation leaves much to be desired.
