Tragic Collision Claims Life of McColl Mayor Amid Investigation

On November 26, McColl, S.C., Mayor George Garner II died in a car crash in Mechanicsville while being followed by sheriff's deputies. His vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent death. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Garner was also under an active South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigation at the time.
