Off-grid energy Is Freedom

Our locally made 1m diameter steel water wheel with its Hugh Piggott-design 48V axial flux alternator, also built locally, churning out a steady 200W after a wet spell in February 2014. The wheel charges our batteries during the winter when there's not enough sun on the solar panels. The system is pretty much maxed out in this video as the channel supplying the wheel is full to capacity. So are our batteries.
