Lawyers' society erupts in protest against Saiful's murder _ ISKCON _ News

Lawyers staged a protest in front of the Dhaka metropolitan magistrate and sessions judge courts on Wednesday, demanding the arrest and trial of those responsible for the murder of Chittagong court Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Saiful Islam Alif.

Hundreds of lawyers gathered for a demonstration organized by the Dhaka Bar Association around 12:45pm.

The protest procession moved through the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court and the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court premises before concluding in front of the bar association building.

During the protest, participants chanted slogans against the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), calling for a ban on the organization. They also raised slogans against Awami League.

The demonstration followed Tuesday’s violent clashes in Chittagong, where followers of the Sommilito Sanatani Jagran Jote and expelled Iskcon leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari clashed near the court premises over a bail denial.

The altercation escalated into a confrontation with law enforcement, during which lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was abducted from the court area and reportedly hacked to death. Lawyers have accused Iskcon supporters of involvement in the killing.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Detective Branch at Shahjalal International Airport at 3:50pm on Monday.
