Reports on China

Elon Musk is treading on thin ice after making a tongue-in-cheek post on Twitter that boosts the lie that America’s drug crisis is somehow China’s fault.

Musk shared a post from Trump which mentioned the President Elect slapping a 10% tariff on all Chinese goods sold in the United States, adding: “Price of fentanyl will rise sharply.”

But as Musk should already know, the United States is just making China a scapegoat, yet again, to blame for its own addiction problems. China does not sell fentanyl to the United States, per se, it only sells the chemical precursors, because guess what?

That drug is a very important pain killer used all around the world following surgery, and by certain groups such a terminal cancer patients.

China sells the ingredients legally and ethically all around the world but, shock horror, it’s only the United States that has such a massive abuse problem.

It’s time to clear up the crap!

This is Reports on China, I’m Andy Boreham in Shanghai. Let’s get reporting!

China is a complicated place, and there is definitely a lot of content out there that I don't think accurately or fairly represents this huge country of 1.4 billion.

Hi there, I'm Andy Boreham, a New Zealander living and working in Shanghai, China. I make videos for a more critical and open-minded audience. I speak Mandarin and have a masters degree in Chinese Language and Culture from Fudan University, which I think helps me dive a bit deeper in my content.

This channel features my series Reports on China, where I analyze Western media reports and also occasionally present longer-form, in-depth reports on China topics. I also post other content here, including my Curious in China series which looks deeper into certain aspects of contemporary China that don't necessarily fit into news and current affairs.

If you're ready and willing to see the "real" China, at least according to me, then come along for the ride!
