As we all get ready for our Thanksgiving dinner I remember how as a child my Mother always wanted “A Traditional Thanksgiving Meal”.
Diana is from Ecuador…where they don’t have a Traditional Thanksgiving meal…because like the rest of the world, they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a uniquely AMERICAN Holiday.
So today, let’s take a journey back in time to the very first feast in 1621 and look at what a traditional Thanksgiving meal really was.
"Forget turkey and mashed potatoes. The Pilgrims and Native Americans enjoyed a feast of deer, SEALS (like from the ocean)…
Geese and wild duck…and, surprisingly, and mostly…
Lobster and eels!
Squanto, a vital figure helping the Pilgrims to survive the first winter as he was only native American who spoke English… taught the Pilgrims to spear eels, which became a highlight of the celebration."
"But it doesn't stop there. Squanto also introduced the Pilgrims to the world of lobsters! A letter from Pilgrim Edward Winslow to his family back in England the next year in 1622 vividly described a feast that lasted up to five days, with lobster taking center stage and electrifying the imagination of readers."
"Picture this: no ovens, no sugar. The lack of modern conveniences meant no oven-roasted birds or sweet cranberries, no pumpkin pie or any kind of pies or deserts at all. Probably no Turkey, as they were too wild and too hard for the Pilgrims to catch!
"Winslow's letter not only described the feast but also played a crucial role in turning the Harvest Feast into the Thanksgiving we know today. Lobsters and eels took the spotlight, making for a truly unique celebration."
