Marcus Fakana, an 18-year-old British tourist, faces a potential 20-year prison sentence in Dubai. He was arrested after entering a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old girl he met while on holiday with his parents. The relationship would be legal in the UK, but her mother reported it to Dubai authorities after finding messages on her daughter’s phone. Marcus was detained for three days without contact with his family. His parents are appealing for UK government intervention.
