Taiwan’s former president says US should prioritize helping Ukraine over her country

In her keynote speech at the Halifax International Security Forum, former Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen suggested the U.S. should prioritize aiding Ukraine over Taiwan, noting that Taiwan still has time to prepare.

She emphasized that Ukraine’s ongoing defense against Russia, now surpassing 1,000 days, is crucial, as concerns rise over President-elect Trump’s stance on reducing U.S. support.

Tsai also referenced China’s potential 2027 invasion of Taiwan, with President Xi instructing forces to be ready, The Hill has reported.
