In a kingdom renowned for its beauty, a Princess named Snowheart captivated everyone with her looks but remained indifferent to love. Despite the pleas of her parents and the array of handsome suitors, she turned them down disdainfully, valuing her beauty above all. Her nurse warned her that such coldness might provoke the good fairies who blessed her, suggesting that she risked their wrath and the potential onset of malicious fairies. Snowheart ignored these warnings, remaining fixated on her reflection. The King and Queen, distressed by their daughter’s indifference, declared that anyone who could break the spell of her heartlessness would win her hand. Meanwhile, a hideous wood-chopper, infamous for his violent ways, found himself in dire straits as travelers began to evade his forest. With winter's chill upon him and with no food, he succumbed to despair. In his lowest moment, a malicious fairy named Melandrine appeared, offering him a solution to his suffering. She gave him a magical sprig of wild bean that could ignite snow. The wood-chopper, astonished by the new ability to generate warmth, began to thrive despite still being hungry. In the capital, Princes and nobles vied for Snowheart's affection, boasting of their valor and wealth, yet she remained uninterested. Her nurse cautioned her against irritating the good fairies. Disregarding them, a ruffian—the wood-chopper—gained access to the royal court and utilized the wild bean to ignite Snowheart’s heart through a touch. Consequently, the King honored his promise, allowing Snowheart to leave with him to his forest. Unfortunately, as time passed, she slowly realized she had condemned herself to a miserable life. Though she had finally glimpsed affection, it was for someone unworthy of it, revealing the profound lesson: beauty and admiration must be accompanied by kindness and openness to true connection, rather than vanity or indifference. Thus, Snowheart's punishment served as a reminder of the importance of true love over superficial allure.
