Australian Governmett's Commercial relationship With Facebook

Email reply to Senator Pocock on their Australian government's Misinformation Bill:

One of the facts about social media, and Facebook in particular, is that Facebook likely has a commercial relationship with
the federal government via the Future Fund's investment of some $250 million.
This was confirmed to me by a staffer of Deputy PM Richard Marles, on an occasion where I phoned Mr Marles;s office wanting the contact details of Facebook head office in Sydney.
Said staffer told me that even if she had those details she could not me those details.
My reply to that statement was to the effect of: "Is that because the federal government has a commercial-in-confidence agreement with Facebook?"
Said staffer refused to deny that the aforementioned commercial relationship exists.
As we all know, Senator Pocock, Facebook actively censors political commentary, under its spurious and nonsensical
Community Standards mantra, whilst on the rest of the internet alternative media such as Alex Jones's InfoWars, and others are freely available.
This, to my mind-and you and your Senatorial colleagues are welcome to deny that Section 28 of the Crimes Act 1914 and the Criminal Code Act 1995 Section 83.4 are applicable in this country-Facebook is criminally interfering with the Australian people's actual, not implied,political rights and duties, as described and protected in the aforementioned Act and Code.

In any event, you have the story now, and hopefully you will alert your Senatorial colleagues to these facts, on which I am quite prepared to testify, under penalty of perjury, in any lawful Court in the land.

Given what is presented here any notion of social media being a villain seem to come under serious doubt, and any legislation related to mis/disinformation, as you put it, needs to be totally scrapped and the people of this country to be left to determine what they believe is or is not true.

As the co-founder of Greenpeace, Paul Turner, once said:
'It doesn't matter of what is true, it only matters of what people believe to be true.' "
