Officers responded to a residential burglary call at approximately 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered firearms had been stolen and located the suspect, later identified as Dwayne Brown, 63, hiding in nearby bushes.

Brown fled when officers approached, sparking an extensive search.

The suspect was first found hiding under a residence in the 6000 block of Perrier Street. Officers attempted to apprehend him using physical force and a taser but were unsuccessful.

Moments later, an officer located Brown in the 6000 block of Prytania Street, where a physical altercation ensued.
