SAN DIEGO, CA -- A man who spent 5 days locked in a dungeon, without food, water, or a toilet, has won a lawsuit against the DEA. Federal enforcers claimed that the man, who was never charged with a crime, was "forgotten."

Daniel Chong, a college student at the University of California, was detained after Federal enforcers raided his friend's house on suspicion of someone getting high. Chong was never charged with a crime and was told he would be released. Instead, after being questioned, he was thrown into solitary confinement, in a 5'x10' cell. Left alone there in handcuffs.

For five (5) excruciating days, Chong was left in a windowless room, without being checked on once. He had no food, no water, and no toilet. He could hear people walking past the door to his cell but no one ever acknowledged his screams. He kicked the door. He tore a piece of his clothing off, and shoved it under the door, hoping it would get someone's attention. No one came to his rescue.

The starvation and dehydration was causing Chong to hallucinate. He drank his own urine, recycling it to stay hydrated. He suffered cramps, dehydration, and kidney failure.

Fearing he would die, he carved "Sorry Mom" into his arm with pieces of his eyeglasses, which he had bitten until they shattered. He swallowed a piece of glass in his hallucination, cutting his esophagus. It may have been an attempt at suicide.

In the final two days, the lights were turned off and he spent the time in total darkness. He was so weak that he couldn't focus his eyes and could not extend his arms. A few more hours would have caused him to die.

When the finally opened the door, a guard said, "Here's the water you've been asking for."
