59. The Crucifixion (Mark 15:16-32)

Pilate, relenting to the pressure of the religious leaders and the crowds, surrendered Jesus to the Praetorians for a morning crucifixion. Mark highlights throughout the telling of the story that it is those who are the enemies of Christ who nevertheless enthrone him, albeit unwittingly, as they repeatedly acknowledge that this one is indeed the one before whom every knee will bow.
