Officers were called out around 3 p.m. on Nov. 9 to reports of a person with a knife walking around the complex near 12th Street and Osborn Road. Edited body-cam video released by the Phoenix Police Department showed the moments when officers arrived as a 32-year-old woman was standing with a knife on the second floor of one of the buildings.

“There seems to be a domestic dispute at my apartment,” said the unidentified 911 caller. “Uh, someone is threatening someone else with a knife.”

While there, officers asked repeatedly for the woman to drop the knife, but she refused.

“Drop that f****ing knife; you’re under arrest. You’re going to get hit. Drop that f****ing knife, you’re under arrest,” an officer can be heard saying in the video.

“Put your hands up now,” he said more aggressively before deploying a less-lethal round.

However, that didn’t work, and officers continued aggressively demanding the woman to drop the weapon.

The woman appears to have kept the knife in her hand as she made her way downstairs, only making it down a couple of steps before an officer deployed his Taser and a female officer fired one round from her gun.

Detectives later recovered the knife the suspect held nearby from where the shooting occurred.
