Best Lure I've Ever Used for Ocean Whitefish - How I Use It

Now that we're into 2024, our Rockfishing and Sheephead options are no longer in play until April and March. California Rockfish Regulations have been changing each year and 2024 is no different. What we do have is a year round open fishery on Ocean Whitefish. Normally targeted while bottom fishing with cut bait with squid being the most popular option, I've found a different way to catch them consistently. Drop after drop after drop if you're in the right area.

These California Ocean Whitefish are delicious table fare and well known for being great eating. Mild, and flaky they can be cooked so many different ways including sashimi!

For decades we used gear that drowned out the hard fighting and tenacious nature of these under appreciated fish.
