58. Pilate meets Jesus (Mark 15:1-15)

The arraignment of Jesus, held in the lower levels of the home of Caiaphas, results in a guilty plea, at least in the minds of his prosecutors. They believed they had maneuvered Jesus into committing the crime of blasphemy by claiming to be the Son of God. Such a crime warranted the death penalty under Jewish law. Armed with such evidence, they felt they were justified in bringing Jesus to the Roman Prefect, Pontius Pilate, who found himself confronted with this most enigmatic case.
