Pygmalion (Song)

The story of Pygmalion and Galatea tells of a gifted sculptor, Pygmalion, who becomes disillusioned with the flaws of mortal love and devotes himself to his art. From ivory, he carves a statue of extraordinary beauty, pouring his dreams and desires into its creation. The statue, Galatea, represents his ideal of perfection, and he falls deeply in love with it, treating it as though it were alive. Consumed by longing, Pygmalion prays to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, to bring his creation to life. Moved by his devotion, Aphrodite grants his wish, and Galatea transforms from cold marble to a living woman.
