Colossians is about the supremacy of Christ.
While Ephesians is about the body of Christ, Colossians is Him as the Head of the body.
Paul was not the only one on arrest in Rome, so was a fellow minister, Epaphras (Phile. 1:23).
Epaphras had served the Lord sharing the gospel in Colosse, Hierapolis, and Laodicea.
Epaphras gave Paul and overall glowing report of the Colossians' faith in Christ, the Mystery, and love for each other. But he was worried about some heretics who wanted to entice the to demote Christ as Head and move the Colossians from Pauline Doctrine.
Paul corrects 3 errors:
1) false mysticism the result of vain philosophies.
2) Jewish legalism
3) Futile asceticism
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has preeminence in all things.
