June 6, 1974: a report broadcast at the time with the national state program dedicated to the 50,000th flight of the Tupolev Tu-114 long-range liner on the Moscow (Domodedovo) - Khabarovsk route.
Consider that this mammoth turboprop needed 15 years of operational service to reach this fateful milestone: it is easy to calculate that on average, every year, the Tu-114s operated no less than 3,333 flights.
An indicator that says a lot about the robustness and reliability of this machine considering that only 31 units were built (!).
The Tu-114s that received the NATO code "Cleat" and were essentially a derivative of the Tu-95 bomber, were gradually withdrawn from service starting from the early 1970s with the last scheduled flight taking place in 1976. Soviet TV and radio media GOSTELERADIOFOND
