The Divine Pymander of Hermes : The Secret Teachings of the Dragon of Light (pt. 1)

Hermes Mercurius Trismegistus, the Thrice Greatest Hermes, was and is the greatest and most important of all of the great spiritual teachers. A syncretic character, derived from the Egyptian God Thoth and the Greek Hermes, Trismegistus is in a sense, the Ultimate Shaman. His adventures in his various guises inspired many of the stories in the New Testament, (the horns of the devil may have been based upon Hermes, the story of David and Goliath, and many components of the personage and the sayings attributed to Jesus, etc), and even more modern myths such as the cliche of meeting the devil at the crossroads (Hermes has horns in some of his depictions, is a god of music and magick, and he was often encountered at the crossroads. Several African and Brazillian cultures have nearly identical myths).

His most famous quote, "As Above, So Below; As Within, So Without," has become a ubiquitous feature of the pop culture spiritual landscape...and for good reason. After sufferring from thousands of years of oppression, genocide, war, and impedance of education and enlightenment wrought upon humanity by the prevailing institutionalized religions, we have endured as a response more than a century of soul sucking abject materialism. As Hermes would say, the pendulum swings. And so...as it is foretold, we find ourselves at a crossroads, and Hermes once again appears at the critical time to light our way.

Hermes teaching are not "his". They are as old as the Universe. They are simply observations; observations interpreted within a certain framework. The key to seeing the world through the eyes of The Thrice Greatest , and acquiring some of his power, requires only Gnkowledge of a few fundamental concepts. The most important of these, and really all of them point to this in essence, is the ability to read the Book of Nature. The All is indeed Mind, as Hermes informs us; the Universe is Allegory. Al that is, is metaphor.

Unlike other systems, Hermeticism has little in the way of dogma. It does not require initiates to abandon reason and common sense, much less science. In fact, education in real world disciplines is a prerequisite for attainment of an understanding of the Secret Doctrine. All of these things elucidate the reason for the relevance, and the necessity, of the reemergence of Hermes in our present moment. Many of the most cutting edge revelations gifted to us by nearly every science substantiate the teachings of Hermes, and the Gnowledge proferred by the Corpus Hermeticum.

In Light of all of this I have decided to lauch a series of Lightstreams on tis subject. Drawing upon a pdf copy of the "Divine Pymander of Hermes" from 1650, we will avail ouselves of it, complimented by my commentary, which is informed by decades of study and experience in this arena. I will draw correlations between these teachings and recent discoveries rom the worlds of physics, nueroscience, and even modern, technology based alchemy.
