Live From The Bunker 759: After THE DAY AFTER

Today in 1983, viewers got their first look at the aftermath of nuclear war with the film THE DAY AFTER, directed by Nicholas Meyer. Set in eastern Kansas, the TV movie documented what the effects would be on civilized society in the United States. It was part of the entertainment-propaganda machine that featured prominently during the Cold War. This is nothing new, as science fiction has frequently been a vehicle to examine tensions between the superpowers.

But it's not the only film that painted the Soviets as the Bad Guys, and now it seems we're moving toward another Cold War with the Russians filling in for the Soviets...

Will we see a renaissance in Cold War style stories coming in the near future?
