Crispy Onion Pakoda Recipe

Ingredients:

2 large onions (thinly sliced)

1 cup gram flour (besan)

2 tbsp rice flour

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

A pinch of asafoetida (optional)

2-3 tbsp water

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1. Prepare Onions: Slice onions thinly and place them in a mixing bowl. Add a pinch of salt and let them sit for 5-10 minutes. This will release moisture from the onions.

2. Mix Ingredients: Add gram flour, rice flour, red chili powder, cumin seeds, turmeric, and asafoetida to the onions. Mix gently. Add a few spoons of water as needed to create a sticky mixture (not a runny batter).

3. Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat.

4. Fry Pakodas: Take small portions of the onion mixture and drop them gently into the hot oil. Fry in batches until golden brown and crispy.

5. Drain and Serve: Remove pakodas using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

6. Enjoy: Serve hot with mint chutney or ketchup!

Quick, simple, and delicious!
