Anasuya is a revered figure in Hindu mythology, celebrated for her unwavering devotion, purity, and virtuous character. Her story is deeply rooted in Indian scriptures, symbolizing the ideals of chastity, devotion, and righteousness.

Who is Anasuya?
Anasuya (अनसूया) was the wife of the sage Atri, one of the seven great sages (Saptarishis). She is considered one of the most exemplary figures of pativrata dharma (the virtue and devotion of a wife). Anasuya is also believed to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi or Devi Shakti. Her name, derived from Sanskrit, means "free from envy" (an = without, asuya = envy).

Anasuya's Life and Virtues
Marriage to Sage Atri: Anasuya and Atri lived a life of penance and devotion in the forest. Their hermitage was a center for spiritual learning and was frequented by sages, gods, and seekers of truth.
Unparalleled Devotion: Anasuya is celebrated for her pure heart and her ability to perform miracles due to her penance and spiritual power.
Role as a Mother: Anasuya is the mother of Dattatreya, a revered sage and an incarnation of the divine trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. She also bore two other sons: Chandra (the Moon) and Durvasa (a fiery sage known for his quick temper).
