Kinda Funny’s Andy Cortez ATTACKS Smash JT, GETS EXPOSED
Kinda Funny’s Andy Cortez Under Fire for Defaming YouTuber Smash JT with False Accusations
Andy Cortez, a host on the popular Kinda Funny Games YouTube channel, is facing backlash after sharing defamatory claims about YouTuber Smash JT in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter). Cortez shared screenshots from an account that falsely accused Smash JT of using a questionable hookup site, dragging his personal life into the spotlight.
The account, known as WashYourCrack, claimed that Smash JT created a profile under the name “JeffTSmash,” allegedly listing details such as his city, hobbies, and even his wife’s name. Cortez amplified these baseless accusations with a comment that read, “The setup and punchline are incredible.”
This all stemmed from a heated exchange where Smash JT criticized Cortez’s co-host, Greg Miller, for urging the Kinda Funny audience to vote for Kamala Harris. Cortez’s post quickly gained attention but was proven false when Smash JT provided concrete evidence. He revealed that the account in question had been impersonating him, changing its username to “JeffTSmash” in an attempt to smear his reputation.
Smash JT called out Cortez directly, writing, “Hardcore lefty spreading misinformation… color me shocked. This is actual defamation, proven to be faked. Here’s the proof of the actual account that changed its name. This is shameful to flippantly post this to a wide audience without actually doing any research first.”
While Cortez did delete the post, his so-called apology fell flat. Instead of taking full accountability, he dismissed the incident with a snarky comment: “I'll delete it because I'm not a complete piece of s**t, only about 90% when it comes to dealing with you all. Sorry you were harassed, I know you'd never bother or attack anybody on this website.”
Smash JT responded, calling the response inadequate and insincere: “A simple ‘sorry, that was completely out of line’ would’ve sufficed. Your backhanded attempt at trying to be funny in an 'apology' to downplay what you just did here is noticed, but not appreciated. This was a super s**y thing to do to someone.”
Adding to the controversy, Cortez has a history of inflammatory comments. During a recent Kinda Funny livestream, he lashed out at gamers critical of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, claiming their success is owed to the very policies they oppose: “You f**ing need DEI because you wouldn’t have jobs if DEI didn’t exist to complain about. You wouldn’t be making money on YouTube if DEI didn’t exist. So you’re really the ones that need it.”*
The incident raises questions about accountability and professionalism, especially from someone with a platform as large as Kinda Funny Games. Instead of addressing the harm caused by spreading misinformation, Cortez chose to downplay the issue, leaving Smash JT to deal with the fallout.
What do you think about this ongoing controversy? Does Andy Cortez owe Smash JT a proper apology, or should Kinda Funny step in to hold their team accountable? Let us know your thoughts below!
