"Dragon Age: The Veilguard" has ignited a heated discussion online, with accusations that the game is "woke" and unfairly targets white characters in its storyline. YouTuber Endymion completed Dragon Age: The Veilguard and claimed it leans heavily into diversity at the expense of balance, describing it as “gay, trans, and anti-white men.” In his Dragon Age Veilguard review, he explained that every faction in the game is led by diverse leaders, such as an Asian Elf, a black Elf, and a trans character, while the game's villains are predominantly white men and women.

Each faction, like the Shadow Dragons led by a trans man, or the Veil Jumpers led by a black and Asian Elf couple, represents what he describes as an extreme approach to diversity in Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s gameplay and character creation. He noted that factions like the Mourn Watch and the Antivan Crows are controlled by diverse, gay, or female leaders. By contrast, villains, including the traitorous governor in Treviso, are mostly white characters, reinforcing a pattern that he believes is intentional.

Endymion’s take on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, shared through his gameplay review and reaction video, sparked debate, with many echoing his concerns about Dragon Age 4 potentially continuing this pattern of "woke" representation. He emphasized that this new Dragon Age title feels more focused on pushing an agenda rather than balanced storytelling. This reaction to the Dragon Age Veilguard’s character creation and plot choices has only fueled criticisms that BioWare has adopted a social message-focused approach, with Endymion calling it “openly hostile toward white characters.”
