God Alone and His Glory

Introduction
Tonight, we reflect on two saints, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne and St. Therese of Lisieux, who teach us the profound truth that our lives find their purpose and fulfillment in God alone. Through their example, we are reminded that all we do should be for His glory, relying entirely on His mercy and grace.

1. God Alone Matters
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne once said:
“God alone and the desire of His glory-nothing else matters.”
This powerful statement captures the essence of the Christian life: a singular focus on glorifying God in all things. For St. Rose, a missionary to the Native Americans, this meant enduring hardship, loneliness, and failure, all while trusting in God's providence. Her life reminds us that no earthly success, comfort, or recognition can compare to the joy of living for God's glory.
St. Paul echoes this sentiment in 1 Corinthians 10:31:
“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”
We often get distracted by the demands of daily life, seeking recognition or satisfaction in things that are fleeting. St. Rose calls us back to the truth: our ultimate purpose is to glorify God. This is not a burden but a privilege, as it aligns us with the very reason for our creation.

2. Reliance on God's Mercy
St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, beautifully encapsulates the attitude of complete reliance on God's mercy:

Like Therese, we must learn to rest in the arms of God, trusting that He will accomplish His work in us, not because of our merits but because of His infinite love.

Both St. Rose and St. Therese teach us practical ways to live for God's glory:
