Debevoise & Plimpton signed a public pledge to avoid hiring antisemitic law students, but their actions tell a different story. In October 2023, they hired Avery Bashe and Tess Kim, two key signers of Columbia University’s infamous antisemitic proclamation. This statement blamed Israel and Western governments for the violence and even justified Hamas’s actions, saying, “If every political avenue available to Palestinians is blocked, we should not be surprised when resistance and violence break out.”
