Nash - overcoming fear - 18 Nov 2024

"Everybody is afraid of the dark" is what I typically say when I mean they are scared of what is unknown to them. Perhaps not scared of everything that is unknown to them but very likely very scared of certain things that are unknown to them. Well horses, when they are afraid of something unknown to them, are generally taking that "unknown to them" thing and putting it on their "supected horse predators" list - meaning they are scared for their life. When you come to realize that it makes a BIG difference in how you help a horse overcome their fears. I spent about an hour working to help Nash give away his fear enough to calmly walk across this hair up raw deer hide. Near the end of that hour of work I even would (while leading Nash with one hand) drag the deer hide to a new spot on the lawn - so that Nash again had to BOTH increase his personal courage AND also increase his trust in his master. This short video was taken about a half hour or so after that session - in between I had worked on 8 times sending in and tail tugging Nash out of the horse trailer. Then we came back to see if he was still willing to follow me across the previously "too scary to approach" deer hide.

Remember to intentionally, on purpose, learn of God each day by prayerfully reading, studying, and pondering upon God's word each day. Talk to God in prayer as your Heavenly Father who would like for you to be His friend. Find out what He would like you to do for Him as His friend and go and do it for Him as His friend. Yes very intentionally, very much on purpose, become the friend of God. And have a blessed day!!
